By day he teaches Ethnic Studies at the College of San Mateo and provides an academic rendition of the blues by night. Weaned on the guitar early on from the greats such as Albert King, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix, “El Professor” has paid his dues over the years playing roach and rat-infested dives, going on long, dreary tours, and seeing the seamier side of life most of us would rather not see. These experiences can be heard and felt in his guitar playing: some times lively and fun, other times angry and melancholy. Rudy enjoys playing all types of music from Latin jazz and Classic Rock to Blues, and whatever piques his interest, which is just about everything under the sun. This attitude translates into his soulful guitar playing which is never contrived and always from the heart.
